The IIEEJ Transactions on Image Electronics and Visual Computing announces a forthcoming special issue on “Interaction Technologies between Image Electronics and Real World” to be published on June 2019.
A significant progress on image processing and image communication technologies can be archived to capture and process the real world information as digital information. In recent years, the information is not only captured from the real world to computers but also the processed information is fed back to the real world, enabling mutual exchange. For example, in virtual reality field, real world information, such as position, orientation, are derived from the image and it is used to superimpose CG character, text and video onto the image in order to augment the real world. Furthermore, the environment information obtained from the image is used for the path planning of robots, and projection-mapping technologies make use of the shape information acquired from the image in order to project the visual information on complex objects. The technologies that connect the field of image electronics and the real world would be developed more and more in the future.
Based on the above observation, this special issue is focusing on the technologies that interactively connect the field of image electronics and the real world. Prospective authors are invited to submit original research papers to this special issue.
Augmented reality, Mixed reality, Projector-Camera System, Feature extraction, Feature point matching, 3D reconstruction, Structure from motion, Image processing, Image recognition, Image/Video Analysis, Object Recognition, Gesture Recognition, Computer Vision, Machine learning, Deep learning, Shape modeling, Rendering, Physics Simulation, Ergonomics, Human interface, Other Fundamental and Application Technique.
